COLLAGES
I use my handprinted papers in the collages and am drawn to creating color gradations and textured backgrounds which serve so well in the collaging together of shapes to create a narrative. Each series of collages reflect a time, place or particular life experience. “The Chakana” series was created in 2018. The Chakana or Quechuan cross appeared to me while in the hospital in Ambato, Ecuador and carried me through a vulnerable and uncertain time. "Day dreaming” arose from a trip I took to Scotland and “The Ancestor” series arrived 2 weeks before my husband suddenly passed away. The process feels very devotional and each piece holds a great depth of insight and a kind of prescient awareness.
